Holidays to Cyprus with If Only

Sun-soaked beaches might be what Cyprus is best known for, and with no less than 64 Blue Flag beaches in the country it’s hardly a surprise, but this island country in the eastern reaches of the Mediterranean Sea is more than just swathes of seductive sands. A pair of mountain ranges introduce drama to the island’s interior and between them valleys full of lush vineyards and fragrant citrus groves hide centuries-old sights and sleepy villages. The island’s landscape is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts - fantastic golf courses, rewarding hiking and biking, and, of course, a myriad of watersports mean there’s no excuse not to get active…..well, apart from those blissful beaches of course!

A fabulous range of luxury hotels on the island in and around the popular locations of Ayia Napa, Limassol, Paphos and Latchi make the most of the sea views, promising five-star facilities and memorable experiences for visitors, whether travelling as a family, with friends or on a romantic break for two.

Highlights

A small island with a lot to offer, there’s plenty to explore in Cyprus’ historical towns, whilst its beautiful beaches invite visitors to lay back and relax.

Limassol

The busy port city of Limassol on the south coast has a characterful historic centre and a cosmopolitan buzz. Cafes, restaurants and bars are housed in charming old buildings, relaxed yet lively, drawing both locals and visitors to their al fresco areas. Trendy shops, sophisticated nightclubs and a chic marina bring glitz and glamour to this part of the island, and stretches of Blue Flag beaches along the region’s coastline offer plenty to satisfy beach-lovers, with everything from wide, golden shores to dramatic, volcanic sands on offer.

Paphos

Paphos

History meets holidays in Paphos, where ancient sites are an intriguing alternative to the bijou beach in the town. The UNESCO World Heritage Site The Tombs of the Kings is a must-see attraction in the area, where underground tombs carved out of solid rock house the aristocrats of the past. Other notable historical sites include the ancient Greek ruins of the House of Dionysos with its famous mosaics, the Temple of Aphrodite with its carved columns and impressive sea views, and Paphos Castle sitting proudly at the end of the town’s promenade.

Latchi

Flanking the beautiful Akamas National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty, Latchi has an easy-going, laid back feel with a lovely stretch of sand and pebble beach, charming harbour-front eateries and the Cypriot countryside on the doorstep. Legend has it that Aphrodite fell in love with Adonis here, and it’s a gorgeous spot to rekindle romance on a luxury holiday in Cyprus.

Useful Information

When To Visit

A Mediterranean climate in Cyprus means winters are mild and summers are hot and sunny. The peak summer months of July and August can easily exceed temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius, and beaches fill up quickly with sunseekers and holidaymakers. The months to either side of the summer (May-June and September-October) are warm and bright with temperatures in the 20s, plenty of tourist facilities open but without the peak summer crowds. Low season lasts from November to April, when many tourism businesses close and the weather can be more unpredictable, but this can be a good time to visit for low prices, quieter days and outdoor pursuits away from the coast.
