Culinary Cape Town & The Kalahari

To truly discover a place, you should discover its food. The cuisine of a country tells you so much about its culture, its people and its history, by sampling the local delicacies and dishes of South Africa, you will be stunned in just how much it has to offer. From sampling the sublime grapes of the Cape Winelands, to exploring the streets and markets of Cape Town on a foodie tour, to tantalising your taste buds with food made from scratch by a Michelin star chef in the southern Kalahari. You will also have the opportunity to visit habituated meerkats and see them in their natural habitat as they forage for their own tasty meal first thing in the morning.

place DAYS 1 - 2 - Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch

On arrival in Cape Town you will be transferred to Stellenbosch for two nights at Lanzerac Hotel & Spa. During your stay you'll get to go on an E-bike day tour of the Cape Winelands from Stellenbosch to Franschhoek. After a foodie filled day, why not treat yourself and enjoy the views overlooking the lush vineyards and towering Stellenbosch mountains, while being soothed at the spa before or after walking through the pristine lush vineyards and hectares of gardens in the heart of the Winelands.

place DAYS 3 - 6 - Cape Town

Cape Town

After savouring the grapes of the Winelands, you’ll be transferred to Ellerman House in Cape Town for four nights. You’ll get to explore the city by going to a few of the famous landmarks like Table Mountain and Cape Point, all while getting stuck in to some local delicacies and dishes along the way.  At the end of your stay it’s back to Cape Town Airport for your next bit of culinary and wildlife adventure.

place DAYS 7 - 9 - Southern Kalahari

Southern Kalahari

Take a scheduled charter flight from Cape Town to the Relais & Châteaux property, Tswalu Kalahari, for three nights at Tswalu Motse Camp. Exciting safari activities such as an early morning visit to Tswalu’s habituated meerkats to see them in their natural habitat is an unforgettable encounter. Experience the unique landscapes by opting for a night under the stars and bask in the solitude and silence of nature. And of course relish in the culinary story of the southern Kalahari with a refined, seasonal dining experience in the middle of a vast, remote reserve where almost everything is made from scratch. On the last day you’ll fly back to Cape Town for your onward journey home.

Cape Town

Head back to Cape Town for one last bit of indulgence, by staying in the city centre you have a number of trendy bars and restaurants on your doorstep to venture out to or decide to stay within the lovely grounds of the Mount Nelson and choose from a range of dining options with its talented chefs devising delicious and innovative dishes, such as The Chef's Table - where you will step into the gastronomic heart of the hotel and take your seat in an exclusive, hidden dining space. Watch in wonder as dishes are prepared right before your eyes - then uncover the inspiration behind each creation. Menus change daily according to the seasonal ingredients available locally.
